"The State of the World's Refugees 2006: Human displacement in the new millennium" por ACNUR
The turn of the Millennium marked the fiftieth anniversary of the creation of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and the adoption of the UN Convention relating to the Status of Refugees. The Convention sets out the basic principles on which international refugee protection is built: nonrefoulement, which emphasizes that refugees should not be returned to any place where they could face persecution; and impartiality, whereby all refugees are provided protection without discrimination. Recently, these principles have come under increasing threat. In a world which has grown increasingly hostile to asylum and refugees, the very relevance of the Convention has been questioned.

Structural Funds2007-2013

COMBATING DISCRIMINATION:ATRAINING MANNUAL
This training tool was developed as part of the EU-funded project ‘Capacity Building of Civil Society dealing with Anti-Discrimination’ with the aim of providing training on European and national anti-discrimination law and policy to non-governmental organisations in the 10 Member States which joined the European Union on 1 May 2004 as well as in Bulgaria, Romania and Turkey. NGOs have a vital role to play in making anti-discrimination legislation understood and enforced on the ground. They are essential in speaking on behalf of and defending those they represent as well as raising awareness, of both victims and potential victims of discrimination who are all too often unaware of their rights, and also of the general public.
